What is the difference between Serial Killers, Mass murderers, Spree Killer, Notorious Killers, School Shooters, and infamous Inmates?
A Serial Killer
is someone who kills more than one person, usually in more than one place and at different times. The crimes are usually thought out and the victims are stalked or profiled before they are killed. The murders, often times, are sexual in nature and are paired with ritualistic actions. Often times the victims are raped before, during, or after the murder. Serial killers often have many traits in common. Some of these are ,a domineering mother, early abuse in the home, bed wetting at a late age, fire setting, above average intelligence, an interest in law enforcement, and typical sociopathic behaviors.
A Mass Murder
is someone who has kill more than one person usually at various locations and usually over a period of time. Their crimes generally are not sexual or ritualistic in nature and May not have been known to the killer beforehand. A good example of this is a War Crimes General or a criminal who has killed several people during robberies or rival drug dealers.
A Spree Killer
is someone who kills various people over a short period of time usually because they feel like they have been wronged or are angry. School shooters and people who are said to have gone POSTAL are examples of this.
A Notorious Murderer
is someone who may or may not have killed more than one person. Their crimes are highly publicized for one of the following reasons. They killed a famous person; their crime was so gruesome that it sticks in peoples mind or was widely covered in the media. Sometimes the murder becomes infamous years after the fact due to books movies or other media.
A School shooter
is a kid who went postal at school.
An Infamous inmate
is someone who hasn’t killed someone but might be a serial rapist or who crimes are so henious they deserve being mentioned.
